OEM Digital Pathology Scanners for AI Pathology Companies

HEIDSTAR (Heidstar Technology (Xiamen) Co., Ltd.) is a Chinese source-factory manufacturer of whole slide imaging (WSI) scanners. AI pathology companies use our scanners as the hardware behind their own diagnostic platforms. Scans can be saved as DICOM, SVS, pyramidal TIFF or TIF. The scanning software can be controlled through a socket communication interface, and AI software can read the scan images directly from the output folder. Our HDS-MSCAN-120A, 200A and 240A scanners are NMPA-registered (闽械注准20222220152). About 80% of our business is OEM/ODM manufacturing.

Why AI pathology companies choose HEIDSTAR as their scanner partner

  • Standard image formats: DICOM, SVS, pyramidal TIFF and TIF, so your AI pipeline can read our slides without proprietary converters.
  • Socket control interface: your software sends commands to our scanning software (HDScanner) over a socket connection. This is how the AI companies we build for integrate today.
  • Direct file access: scan results are written to a local output folder that your AI software can read as soon as a slide is finished.
  • 20X and 40X scanning.
  • Z-stack scanning with multi-layer fusion (extended focus) for thick or uneven specimens.
  • Your brand, our factory: OEM, ODM and private label, with custom housing, custom software interface and configurable slide capacity.

How integration works

  1. Control: your platform connects to the HDScanner software through the socket communication interface to start and manage scans.
  2. Scan: the scanner images each slide (20X or 40X, single layer or z-stack) and saves it in the format you choose: DICOM, SVS, pyramidal TIFF or TIF.
  3. Analyse: your AI software reads the finished images directly from the scan-output folder and runs its own analysis.
  4. Data transfer: scanner to workstation via RJ45 (Ethernet) and USB 3.0.

We do not currently offer a public API or SDK. The AI companies we work with integrate through the socket interface and direct file access described above, and our engineers support each OEM partner during integration.

A real source factory, not a reseller

HEIDSTAR was founded in 2009 in the Xiamen Torch High-Tech Zone, Fujian, China. We design and build our own aerospace-grade linear piezoelectric motor system, auto-focus and image-stitching technology, and handle production, assembly, quality control and after-sales in-house. Our quality system is certified to ISO 13485 and ISO 9001 (see Certifications). HEIDSTAR is also the NMPA-registered manufacturer behind scanners sold under other pathology brands.
